Since becoming an Accor Plus member, I’ve found myself booking Accor hotel brands whenever I travel. Of course, this Osaka trip was no exception! After arriving late at night at Umeda Station (Osaka Station), I stayed at the Ibis Osaka Umeda.

1. Location of Ibis Osaka Umeda
The Ibis Osaka Umeda hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Osaka Station, easily accessible via an underground passage. It offers good value for money and excellent accessibility, making it a great choice for anyone visiting Osaka. To be honest, when we first went to check in, we didn’t realize we could use the underground passage, so we crossed several busy streets in the cold weather. But after that, we realized the underground path was super convenient for getting around!
2. Check-in at Ibis Osaka Umeda
I arrived at Ibis Osaka Umeda around 8:30 PM, and the check-in process went smoothly. The room only had the basic amenities like toothbrush and toothpaste. If you need other items like razors, combs, or cotton pads, you can grab them freely from the counter next to the check-in desk. One thing that was a bit disappointing, though, was that even as an Accor Plus member, no one mentioned anything about a “Welcome Drink.”
After checking in and being told to go up to the room, I asked about how to use the welcome drink. Only then did they start to check it out. (This was the first time I’ve experienced this with Accor hotels.) It turns out that the drink could be picked up at the Costa Coffee located across from the check-in counter. However, since the café was already closed, they only offered one drink option, which I ended up taking. The drink had a plum flavor, and since it was part of the Accor Plus benefit, I figured it was better to take it than leave it.
3. Room Conditions at Ibis Osaka Umeda
I stayed in a Standard Room with two single beds. I opted for the two single beds over a double because the room with singles was more spacious. The room was a bit narrow, with two single beds, a wardrobe, and a small table neatly arranged. The hallway was also narrow, so placing a suitcase there felt a little cramped. There was a coffee pot and tea bags in the room, but no coffee was provided. The mini-fridge was also empty, and I was advised to use the water dispenser located across from the check-in desk on the first floor. Personally, I was a bit disappointed there was no bottled water, but I knew about it in advance, so I just picked up water from a nearby convenience store.
The bathroom was compact, but it had a proper shower booth with a door (not just a shower curtain), which made it much easier to use. The water pressure was great, and the drainage worked well. There were no unpleasant smells in the bathroom, and I had a comfortable stay without any issues.
4. Accor Plus Benefits
Although I saw a lot of Accor advertisements around the hotel, I didn’t really feel like I received any special benefits as an Accor Plus member. The lack of a welcome drink was a bit of a letdown, and the fact that the café was closed so late meant that the drink options were limited (honestly, I would have preferred some water). They did offer a late check-out until 2 PM, but since I had to do an open run at Universal Studios Japan the next day, I didn’t really get to enjoy any extra benefits.
Overall, if you compare prices and find a cheaper deal, I recommend booking through a travel platform that guarantees the lowest price.
