I took advantage of a flight deal and arrived in Jeju at an affordable price. During my trip to Korea, Jeju Island was definitely one of the places I had always wanted to visit. Though I had a short schedule, I’d like to share my experience of traveling to Jeju!

2. A Great Tip for Jeju Travel: Pre-purchase Tickets for Attractions
Jeju has so many great attractions to check out, so if you’re planning a trip to Jeju, I recommend purchasing tickets for popular spots in advance to save some money!
3. BBQ in Jeju City: ‘제주육로’ (Jeju Yookro)
After safely arriving at the Maison Glad Hotel and unloading my luggage, my husband and I headed out to enjoy a late dinner at ‘제주육로’ (Jeju Yookro). I was worried because most restaurants close early, but this place stays open late, so even though we arrived late, we were able to enjoy a wonderful dinner!
When you think of Jeju Island, you often think of black pork (흑돼지) and grilled pork belly (오겹살). But ‘제주육로’ completely changes that perception. The standout menu item here is their premium Black Angus beef ribs (우대갈비). My husband and I tried both the beef ribs and the black pork belly, and honestly, we were like, “Wow… I can’t forgive the owner!” (Haha). The owner’s words, “If this is your first restaurant in Jeju, you won’t be satisfied with any other place,” came true. It really was that good!
1) Signature Set Menu
Looking at the menu, we saw that we could order the main items: beef ribs (우대갈비), thinly sliced beef brisket (차돌박이), and black pork belly (흑돼지 오겹살).
To be honest, I had planned to eat black pork belly in Jeju, but after hearing so much about the beef ribs, I decided to order the signature set. It was the best decision! When I saw the grill on the table, I thought I would need to cook the meat myself, but actually, the owner lightly grilled the meat over charcoal and brought it to us. This way, we didn’t have to worry about grilling it ourselves and could focus on enjoying the delicious flavors.
An extra thoughtful touch was that since the weather was getting cold, they served us some fish cake soup (오뎅탕) to warm us up before the meat arrived. You could tell they carefully skewered each piece of fish cake, and it was such a nice gesture.
The first item to come out from the signature set was the thinly sliced beef brisket (차돌박이). The beef ribs came lightly grilled, but since the brisket is thinly sliced, it didn’t need grilling and was ready to eat right away. This was perfect for us since we were really hungry!
They also grilled white kimchi (백김치) and mushrooms for us. The meat was grilled to the perfect doneness and served on our plates, ready to eat bite by bite. It was as satisfying as watching little birds pecking at their food, and we couldn’t get enough of it!
The beef ribs (우대갈비) were lightly grilled over charcoal, preserving all the smoky aroma and juicy flavors. The texture was tender and mild, and the balance of sweet and savory seasoning was spot-on. We added some of the included spicy cod roe (명란젓) sauce on top, and it enhanced the flavor, adding a salty kick and a touch of heat from the chili peppers.
