Beitou Hot Springs Adventure – The Gaia Hotel Review

Beitou Hot Springs

Discover the best private hot spring experience in Beitou, Taipei! From travel tips to booking the perfect spa day at The Gaia Hotel, we’ve got your ultimate guide.

Last November, we enjoyed a spontaneous holiday in Taiwan. Despite the peak season and last-minute planning, we packed our days with great food, memorable experiences, and plenty of relaxation. The highlight? Soaking in the warm embrace of Beitou’s hot springs on a chilly day. Beitou, located just a stone’s throw from Taipei, offers easy access to excellent hot spring resorts and private onsen options. While many popular resorts were fully booked, we were lucky to snag a time slot for a private onsen session at The Gaia Hotel. It turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of our trip!

1. Getting to Beitou hot springs from Taipei

Traveling from Taipei to Beitou is a breeze, with two main options:

  1. MRT: Take the train to Xinbeitou Station. It’s about a 40-minute ride.
  2. Bus: Catch a bus from a stop near your Taipei accommodation and get off at Beitou Market Station. This route takes around an hour.

We took the bus to Beitou and returned via MRT to Taipei Main Station. Between the two, we’d recommend the MRT—it’s more reliable. Bus schedules in Taiwan can be unpredictable, and Google Maps isn’t always accurate. If you’ve pre-booked your hot spring time slot, MRT is your safest bet!

From Beitou Market Station, The Gaia Hotel is a 10-minute walk. Unlike some resorts in Beitou, where steep inclines make walking tricky, The Gaia Hotel’s convenient location makes it easy to reach on foot.

2. Why We Chose The Gaia Hotel – Beitou hot springs

Beitou is brimming with hot spring resorts, but The Gaia Hotel stood out for these reasons:

  • 5-star luxury
  • Private onsen availability
  • High customer satisfaction in reviews
  • Real-time booking via KKday

Taiwan’s weather can get chilly starting in November, especially after rain, making hot springs even more popular. Reservations fill up quickly, so we were thrilled to find an available slot via KKday. Once our booking was secured, we planned the rest of our day around it.

3. Using KKday for The Gaia Hotel

On the day of our reservation, we arrived at The Gaia Hotel and headed to the reception area on the right side of the lobby. Mentioning our private onsen booking immediately prompted the staff to say, “KKday?” A quick “Yes!” and scanning the QR code from the app was all it took.

The private onsen package includes 90 minutes of bliss. After a brief introduction to the facilities, we were shown to our onsen.

1) Private Onsen Experience

The private onsen at The Gaia Hotel was spacious enough for two adults or even a small family. Inside, you’ll find:

  • A large hot spring tub
  • Shower
  • Toilet
  • Simple powder room
  • A daybed

Before soaking, you’re encouraged to shower. Afterward, you can rinse off, dry your hair with the provided dryer, and use lotion for a refreshing finish.

The hot spring water was wonderfully warm—almost too hot at times—but the room had windows that let in a refreshing breeze. Towels were plentiful, and while there was a daybed, we spent most of our time relaxing in the tub.

2) Beitou hot springs – Extra Perks

Unexpectedly, we were treated to bottled water, beverages, and snacks! Since our slot was at 10 AM and we hadn’t had breakfast, this small touch was a lifesaver.

For two people, we received:

2 bottles of water
2 bottles of juice
3 types of snacks

These little treats, paired with the luxurious onsen, made for a perfect mid-morning recharge.

3) Post-Onsen Relaxation

After our session, we took our time getting ready in the lounge area. The hotel provided coffee and tea, allowing us to enjoy a quiet moment before heading out.

For those planning a longer stay, The Gaia Hotel offers various packages, including hot springs + afternoon tea or hot springs + dining. These options are great for couples looking to extend their date or families wanting to enjoy a meal without leaving the hotel.

Our time at The Gaia Hotel was nothing short of magical. Whether it’s a romantic getaway or a family trip, Beitou’s hot springs provide a cozy escape from the city bustle. We left feeling relaxed, recharged, and more connected than ever.

If you’re planning a trip to Taipei, don’t miss out on this warm and soothing experience! You can also find souvenirs for your trip to Taiwan, mango shaved ice, and massage information.
